Being a wife for 10 years and a mother of 2, I didn't always clearly know my purpose. I would feel defeated and confused because my husband was operating in his gift and I felt that I was taking up space.
A few years ago, I assisted my mother-in-law with starting her Certified Nursing Assistant School, and it clicked. God told me "Wendy you are an organizer. You can take people's dreams and make it a reality. I have given you the gift of clarity." For a long time I believed everyone had those traits, but my husband showed me that I am unique and it doesn't come as easy to a lot of people.
God began to show me how to use my gift through my husband's non-profit. As a wife and mother, my responsibilities required that I organize the family schedule as well. I had to gain knowledge (through the reading of scriptures) to understand my role as a wife, and mother.
Be your husband's supporter
Genesis 2:18 “Now the LORD God said, “It is not good (beneficial) for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper [one who balances him--a counterpart who is] suitable and complementary for him.”
God equipped the wife to help her husband to become all that God has created him to be.
Respect your husband
Ephesians 5:33..."and the wife [must see to it] that she respects and delights in her husband [that she notices him and prefers him and treats him with loving concern, treasuring him, honoring him, and holding him dear]."
Love your husband
Titus 2:4-5 "so that they may encourage the young women to tenderly love their husbands and their children, to be sensible, pure, makers of a home [where God is honored], good-natured, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.”
Submit to your husband's leadership
Colossians 3:18 “Wives, be subject to your husbands [out of respect for their position as protector, and their accountability to God], as is proper and fitting in the Lord.”
As a woman, when you began to operate in your role, God will reveal how Y.O.U. will support him. Remember your children are the watchers. They are watching how to become future husbands and wives.
How does one find Your Own Uniqueness?
Know who you are in Christ.
Proverbs 31:10-11 “An excellent woman [one who is spiritual, capable, intelligent, and virtuous], who is he who can find her? Her value is more precious than jewels and her worth is far above rubies or pearls. The heart of her husband trusts in her [with secure confidence], And he will have no lack of gain.”
Know your worth, and seek God for your gifts.
Proverbs 31:17 “She equips herself with strength [spiritual, mental, and physical fitness for her God-given task] And makes her arms strong.”
1 Peter 4:10-11 “Just as each one of you has received a special gift [a spiritual talent, an ability graciously given by God], employ it in serving one another as [is appropriate for] good stewards of God’s multi-faceted grace [faithfully using the diverse, varied gifts and abilities granted to Christians by God’s unmerited favor].”
Know that God only created one YOU. There is no one like you. So embrace it, love your uniqueness, and use it as a tool to propel your family into greatness.
Don't let society, and social media tell you who you are. Don't be consumed by what you see because you are only seeing from a mountaintop perspective.
"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
